THE INSTITUTE

 Christ College Institute of Management  (CCIM),  a premier B-School in India  was established in 1994, to promote quality education, research and consultancy in management.  THE CULTURE

The students, the faculty and the management at CCIM have been building up a Christite culture, marked  by  team  work,  mutual  respect, social  values, personal maturity and integrity. In this temple of learning  we nurture   an  open  attitude  to incorporate  the  wisdom  of the East and of the West and  welcome the support and guidance of  executives from the corporate sector, foreign experts and common man to train  world class business leaders for our nation.

 

THE CAMPUS

 The Institutes spacious campus is located in  the garden city of Bangalore in Karnataka in the beautiful  environment  of Dharmaram College.  Situated in sylvan surroundings, CCIM enjoys fresh air, beautiful scenery and moderate climate conducive for rigorous training programme.  The campus is in an envious position of having access to higher academic centers like the Indian Institute of Management, Indian Institute of Science and other reputed business organisations. The  institute   was  selected for the Best Campus Award  by    Bangalore  Urban  Art Commission  for six consecutive years A well stocked library, Computer lab with Internet, Audio-visual facilities, air-conditioned Seminar Hall, Panel Room, Conference Hall, Terrace Garden, Kiosk and all the requirements of an Institute of higher learning are  unique features of CCIM.

FACULTY     

CCIM has qualified and experienced permanent faculty drawn from the major streams of management practice. The committed faculty members, through personal attention and guidance, groom the budding executives to provide excellent service to society. The faculty enrich themselves by taking up research and consultancy projects.  Part-time and visiting faculty embers from leading business organisations enrich the course content with additional inputs.                      

LIBRARY

 CCIM library offers students an excellent selection of books and magazines on management as  well as other subjects. The back issues of the leading management journals, Indian as well as international, are also available. The library which is completely computerized is open between 8.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m. Along with 52,500 books and 125 journals, there is a good collection of audio and video tapes for use the of faculty and students. Library also provides Internet surfing facility and access to  ESBCO database. Through institutional membership the CCIM fraternity  has  access to the  library at Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.  

 COMPUTER LAB

 The well equipped  computer lab with state-of-art technology has a network facility, connecting the latest Intel  microprocessor based computers.  The lab has 140 Pentium IV based nodes each with 32MB RAM, 4GB local hard disk, Super SVGA colour monitors, connected to two Intel Pentium servers, one on WIN NT, and the other on SCO UNIX System V. Laser Printers, Inkjetprinters, multimedia projector, digitizer,lp 735 Data Projector, scanner, dot matrix printers and other peripherals are connected to the network.  In addition there are 30 Intel 8085 microprocessor based trainer kits interfaced to the computers. It is expected that  every student  will know the use of  word processor, spreadsheet and  databases.   Students have free access to the net by way of a  64Kbps leased line that connects them to the world and beyond.  

EDUCATION  METHODOLOGY

The education methodology evolved at CCIM  assists the students in developing independent thinking and an international business outlook  required  for  an effective business leader. Along with learning of specific theories and tools through lectures, other  teaching methods such as   case studies, simulated games, group discussions, group projects, seminars and other innovative  exercises are  used . Formal  classroom  sessions  are  supplemented  with  frequent   guest lectures by experts from industrial and academic fields. Frequent seminars, workshops and panel discussions are arranged  to have a more professional  touch to the training programme. Industrial visits/tours are organized to give practical exposure.

 CCIM puts the students through a comprehensive and  intensive set of courses spread over four semesters. The classroom segment has both, a core content and a specialized content and thus better equips the students to adapt to the demands of professional management in their chosen field of specialization.

Dual Specialization: A participant has to take a minimum of 6 courses in the specialization stream to qualify in the specialization.  The Institute provides facility for dual specialization.  As an alternative, if his/her dissertation topic is in a specialization stream, he/she has to take a minimum of four more subjects in that stream.  This is to facilitate some students to choose more than one specialization stream. (Example: dissertation in marketing plus four electives in marketing and six subjects in finance leads to the specialization in both marketing and finance.)

MANAGEMENT RESEARCH PROJECT (MRP)

MRP is a year long research project conducted during the second year. This dissertation is guided by a faculty member from the Institute and focuses on a continuous and close interaction of the student with the industry.  

CONTINUOUS EVALUATION

The Institute will practice a continuous evaluation system to monitor performance and provide feedback to the students for frequent and regular corrections.  The evaluation will be done on the basis of class participation, quizzes, home assignments, written examinations, term papers and course projects.    There will be a viva voce in each semester which includes the topics covered in the semester and the current affairs.  

  INDUSTRIAL EXPOSURE

  Every CCIM student undergoes two months internship training after successful completion of the second semester.  This provides the students             an opportunity to apply classroom learning in a real life environment, appreciate real organization problems, perceptions and challenges and to be aware of the career opportunities after completion of the MBA programme. Apart from Summer Training Programme, project assignments, seminars by experts from industries and leading management institutes and industrial visits/tours expose the students to the real technical and human problems in organizations.  

ATTENDANCE POLICY

  The attendance in all classes is compulsory. Any absence must be approved by the concerned faculty member. Absence exceeding 3 days must be accompanied by the parent / guardian.  The students are expected to be punctual for the classes, and latecomers will not be admitted in the class. 90% attendance is compulsory to appear for the semestral examination. The students work- load including class sessions, required  readings, term papers, project work and field visits, is expected to be not less than 70 hours per week. Only those students who can spend their time in the campus from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. are welcome for our MBA programme.   

MENTORING

  Each student is assigned to a faculty member for personal guidance and mentoring.  The students are expected to meet  the mentors at least once  a week  and brief him / her about  progress made in the management  training programme and seek guidance from the faculty guide. The mentor reports to the co-ordinator regarding the performance of each student assigned to him/her. There is also a full time counsellor for the benefit of the students.  

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

In order to grow students into world class professionals, CCIM organizes a number of co-curricular activities on a weekly, monthly and annual basis.

v   USHUS:  The annual management fest from all over India is a potent field for experience and learning. This B-Schools corporate interface is a 3 day event that includes a Panel Discussion, InQUEST, the corporate Business Quiz, competitive events in the areas of Finance, Marketing, Human Resource and Systems. USHUS, signifies the dawn of a new management culture and  is a gift offered  to business school students and corporates every year.

SPORTS AND GAMES

Our  sports and games facilities at the campus provide the students ample chance for physical exercises to grow into a whole person. The institute has separate ground for major games like hockey, basketball and football. Our Fitness centre has equipments, such as Multi Gym, manual walker, exercycle, vibrator and dumb bells.  

ALUMNI

  CCIM Alumni Association  enhances the rapport between alumni and alma mater  through frequent  interactions. They  conduct  management  development  programmes to sharpen the skills and update the concepts. Alumni Association  organises guest lectures and industrial visits for the current batch  and assists in  placement process.  

PLACEMENT

Placements are facilitated through the combined efforts of students, faculty and professionals. Our placement  centre    assists  all  the  eligible   candidates  to  secure  a  placements  if they  meet the standards fixed by the placement committee. Within a short span, CCIM  placed students in reputed organisations such as HLL, Siemens, Nestle, MICO, Wipro, G E Capital,   J. Morgan & Stanley, NASSCOM, Coke India Ltd., TVS Motors and O & M.        

                 

CORPORATE TRAINING & CONSULTANCY

CCIM is also engaged in corporate training and consultancy services. We have introduced  unique Management Development Programmes tailored to the needs of  industry. We also organise Faculty  Development Program and Entrepreneurship Development Program as a part of our  service.   Our dedicated and competent faculty along with visiting faculty members from the industry   and   other   professionals   offer   relevant training programmes to add value to the  professionals in industry. The institute offers  consultancy   services  and  arranges  joint  programmes with professional bodies and other professional  institutes.  

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

CCIM has adopted the following criteria and procedures for admission of students:

Eligibility

Candidates  who  have  secured  at  least 50%  marks in aggregate   in   their  Bachelor Degree examination of the Bangalore  University  or any  other  university  recognized  as  equivalent thereto are eligible to apply. Students appearing for their final examinations this year can also apply.

Written Test

All  eligible candidates  will  have to appear for a written test, which comprises of objective type questions in  five sections as follows:

Individual Presentation and Group Task

Candidates  shortlisted  on  the basis of written test have to participate in an individual presentation and  Group Task. The evaluation criteria for Group Task will  be  communication skill,  leadership qualities, listening skills,  general awareness, application of concepts and  respect for others.

Selection

Candidates  shortlisted on  the  basis  of  written  test  and  group  discussion  will be called for  interview. The final selection is based on the performance in the qualifying examination,  relevant  work experience ,written test, individual presentation, group task and personal interview.                

Work Experience

Students with two years of work experience in an industry benefit more from our MBA programme.  Organizations  visiting  the  campus  for  recruitment also prefer students with work experience.  Relevant work experience in an industry for about two years, though not essential, is considered desirable before joining the CCIM MBA Programme.

Admission

Candidates  who  are  selected  for admission to the CCIM MBA Programme must indicate their  acceptance by  paying  the first installment  fees as detailed in the letter of admission before the date  stipulated  therein.  Otherwise,  it will  be assumed that the candidate does not want to avail of the offer of admission, and the offer will stand cancelled.
